"New Bones is extra special to us as a band because it marks the rebirth of To Speak of Wolves. We are super stoked to re-release New Bones on vinyl with our friends at Cardigan Records. This gives us another reason to work some of these songs back into our set." Phil Chamberlain, To Speak of Wolves
"The vinyl release of New Bones is part of "The Next Chapter Begins..." Cardigan initiative. To be completely open and honest... Music truly has saved my life on more than one occassion. The connections that I had with albums growing up helped me find the strength within myself to pick myself back up and start the next chapter of my life. I'm afraid that with the rise of the consumption of music via streaming services that the connection/ownership of an album will be lost. I am looking forward to you not only hearing but feeling the opening line of "Ok, I'll Be a Part of This World" on vinyl for the first time with hopes that you feel similiar to the way I felt when the boys played it for me in the studio at Warrior Sound for the first time." - Shane Kelly, Cardigan Records
To Speak of Wolves will be hitting the road in August in support of the vinyl release with So Soon, the Truth and Empty. Dates and cities to be announced soon.
Paperback originated as a creative outlet for some harsh feelings in 2015. The band has since evolved into an intense and passionate collaboration of four friends who want nothing more than to pour their hearts out to anyone who is willing to listen. The band takes on a hard hitting blend of emo and punk rock that they like to call NC sad rock. Combined with a moving and energetic live show the band puts on a performance that is not to be missed. Pushing hard in the beginning and finding their way through the DIY community, they released their EP “Guilty Veins” in January 2017. Following the release of the EP the band played over 110 shows throughout the year covering NC, the southeast, and the Midwest. In January 2018 they released “Growing Pains” a single showing off a new progression and growth. Playing everywhere from basements to festivals, Paperback continues to push hard into 2018 with hopes of spreading their music and passion to new listeners and friends.
Paperback is currently working on their debut full length album set to release this fall on Cardigan Records.
We are very excited to announce the signing of Houston, TX band So Soon, The Truth. The band consists of JD Schwarz (Guitar/Vocals), Peter Huizar II (Guitar/Vocals), Bobby Soto (Bass) and John Del Villar (Drums).
So Soon, The Truth moves between ambience and surging aggressiveness. Trading blows of raw emotion and technicality, SSTT aims to balance chaos and elegance.
Their debut full length is due out fall of 2017 on Cardigan Records.
Hailing from Galveston, Texas, An Author, A Poet consists of Brandon "Princess" Talley (Vocals), Micheal "Groovy" Romero (Guitar), Jake "Brace-face" Gottlob (Drums) Bryce Bucks (Bass), Joseph "Ban-joe" Kuykendall (Guitar). The band is expected to release their debut full length album this summer on Cardigan Records!
"It isn't very often I hear a demo and think right away, 'I need to put out this record', but that happened within one minute of the first song that An Author, A Poet submitted to Cardigan earlier this year. I am very excited for this record and the band's future." - Shane Kelly / Cardigan Records
“This song is unlike most suicide awareness songs. I
wanted it to really speak out in the most honest way possible to let
those who are in need of help or attention that with just little help we
can save many lives that are struggling with depression, anxiety,
online bullying, and harassment. We live in an era now where we
broadcast the violence that is happening in the world right now and we
are not paying attention to the signs and the people that are being
affected by what’s happening just around the corner. Our neighbors, our
friends, our loved ones. It just takes a minute of your time to really
listen to those around you and truly see what’s happening just at arms
length. This video is not intended to offend but to bring awareness of a very serious and on going issue.” - LW
Baltimore, MD native and Durham, NC resident, Professor Toon, releases his brand new video for the track “Professor (You Know It)” off his upcoming project titled Fresh Water, which will be available in January. Fresh Water will feature production from Nic Sanborn of Sylvan Esso/Made Of Oak. The single can be purchased over on iTunes.
Fresh Water touches on my struggles with
homelessness. The project explores me finding the balance of telling my
story and giving these bars at the same time. -Professor Toon
Professor Toon has performed on the main stage of such festivals as
MoogFest and Hopscotch Music Festival. He has shared the stage with the
likes of Juicy J, GZA, Big KRIT, Lil Dicky and Danny Brown.
To Speak Of Wolves
are teaming up with AP to premiere their first song in four years.
Titled "Ok, I'll Be A Part Of This World," the track is taken from their
impending comeback EP, New Bones, which is due out Sept. 16 via Cardigan Records. (Pre-orders are on sale now.)
"I wanted the first song out to be a statement," says frontman Gage
Speas. "I wanted it to sound strong both lyrically and sonically. So I
wrote about the most important thing in my life: my wife."

Nomadic indie singer/songwriter Kenny Collette, who performs under the moniker Lazarus Wilde, has signed a deal with Cardigan Records! Cardigan will release Lazarus Wilde's self-titled EP on August 5th.
"I'm really excited to be on board with Cardigan," says Collette. "Shane really believes in my music and it's nice to have that support system and have a team who wants to push their artists to be the best versions of themselves and succeed."
Lazarus Wilde was started to record songs as a creative outlet for Kenny personally, as well as chronicle the time and people he has met throughout his entire life travels. He's lived everywhere from New Jersey and Pennsylvania, all the way to California & Puerto Rico. Many of the early incarnations of the new EP started while he spent time living on a boat.
"The 4 songs are in some respects all cohesive in a lyrical context," says Collette. "It tells the story of an individual who struggles with self worth and their identity. I know it sounds depressing as hell, BUT I feel it can relate to a lot of people in various ways such as those who have suffered from bi polar disorder, suicide awareness, etc."
The self-titled EP will be available on August 5th via iTunes and http://www.cardiganrecords.com/.
